"Making the most of your losing streak. Some call it sick, I call it week". The singer Don Henley of the Eagles in this particular song, "Get Over It", is pointing out peoples distinct way of blaming something else for their faults. The song is attack at the way people always have an excuse when things don't go their way. One line goes "point your crooked little finger at every one else", which expresses the common way people react to something they have done. The "crooked" part is meaning they point their guilty finger. Don Henley is making light of societies stupid way of always having an excuse about something or other.

No Commas

John walked through the hall. He entered a room on his left. John walked into the empty room; he sat down at the empty desk. He waited. He sat there for quite some time before anyone arrived. From outside the hall he heard footsteps. A small man entered through the open door and motioned him to get up. John willingly got up and went towards the small man. The man told John that he needed to be wary of the other attendants on their floor. He should watch out for anyone trying to give him advice.

Cowboys host the Panthers tonight in their second home game. Hopefully they can pull through and actually win this one. That would be something. To start the season a dismal 1-2 would not be a good to put it lightly. The heroics of Tony Romo last week really helped them to lose that game. The Cowboys are without one of their starting backs Marion Barber. So hopefully Felix Jones can step up and be the only feature back. The Cowboys are in good position to win this game today because the Panthers aren't that great.

Yesterday started at 6 am. Not exactly when I wanted to start my Saturday. But, the baseball team had a game in Houston and we had to get to the field at 7 am to leave from there. So we drove four hours to Houston and played a 16 inning game. It was much hotter than it had been lately and that lead to a kind of miserably day. We didn't get back home till way late, I think it was close to 11 pm. It was definitely a long long day.

My friend Joe Cool is dominant at ping pong. He is the best of anyone I know at ping pong. I am iChating with him and another one of my friends. My other friend's name is Zack. He is my best friend and goes to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. We are talking about nothing; just kind of jabbering about pointless stuff. iChat is fun.

It is almost the weekend., which means more football. The weekend brings many things one being no school which is pleasant. However, the most enjoyable thing about the weekend is the football. I get to sit around all day and watch college football on Saturday. And oh, wait! On Sunday I also get to watch football. What bliss? I usually don't watch any kind of t.v. programing except ESPN, and whatever channel is playing a good football or baseball game. I can't really watch the monotony and sameness of every stupid show on t.v. I only watch sports and that's how I like it. Well, I guess that's not entirely true, if Seinfeld is on ill watch that and I occasionally watch Family Guy. But that is pretty much as far as I stray from sports.

It is said that there is a Superman or a Superman reference in every Seinfeld episode. For sure you can catch a glimpse of Superman on Jerry's refrigerator or over by where his stereo is. Also some of the conversations are geared towards Superman. For instance, one episode George and Jerry argue is the Man of Steel has super human humor. They can't figure out if along with super speed, super strength, and whatever else he possesses if he should have super humor.

No Simple Senteces

I woke up this morning, and I went to get some breakfast. I ate oatmeal, and I had a glass of milk. After breakfast, I studied a little for my math test today; even so I still did poorly on my test. I came home, and I got in bed and took a nap. When I woke up from my nap, I went and got some lunch. When I ate lunch, I also watched some television. Football was on, and I decided to watch that. After I let my food digest for a little, I went and worked out. I lifted a little, and then I ran. Now I must go and throw some long toss, and then we got open gym for baseball.

The Cowboys lost an exciting one last night. The Cowboys scored to take the lead with only a few minutes left. However, the Cowboys let the Giants drive down and kick the game winning field goal with not time left. The new stadium lived up to expectations and there was a record 104,000 people at the game. The new stadium is definitely extravagant. I went to the Paul McCartney concert and the stadium was unbelievable. The Cowboys might not be the best team in the NFL, but there's a good chance they have the best stadium.

Sunday, September 20, 2009

The Cowboys' first home game is today. The first real game to be played at "Jerry World" or "The Death Star". The stadium tonight is expected to have somewhere close to 104,000 people, which will be a record attendance for a NFL game. Division rivals New York Giants come to get a butt whooping. I think the Cowboys should put it to them. Im definitely expected a victory and a good 2-0 start to this season.

In my opinion college football is about ten times more enjoyable to watch than professional. The intensity of rivals school is unparalleled by any rivalry in a conference in the NFL. Kids going out and fighting for their school is much more fun to watch than over payed players fighting for their next contract. College football season is really the most fun time of the year for television.

The dark and dismal days of mid September? The sun hasn't really poked itself here in the area since about last Thursday. I am on the verge of an indoor depression. Baseball practice has become but emails from Coach Wharton saying "don't bother showing up, the field is flooded". The rain of the past week or so seems somewhat uncharacteristic of this month here in the metro. Maybe it's just me, but I could definitely go for some sunshine.

The Texas Tech, Texas football game is this Saturday. Hopefully Tech can pull off an upset like they did last year and ruin the Longhorns season. That would make my weekend. I have been a Texas Tech fan for most of my life. My dad graduated from law school there and that's really the reason why I began watching the football team. What I like about Tech most though, is they always bring an offense to the game. They light up the scoreboard with points. Even the defense isn't always outstanding the offense usually is.

For the past two days baseball practices has been canceled. The recent storms have flooded the baseball field and inhibited any kind of practice. Today we were all ordered to the gym to play basketball. It is strange how quickly my basketball skills dissipated. I used to handle the basketball, dribbling wise, very well. Today I found myself losing control of the ball quite frequently. I guess the old adage "practice makes permanent" is true, because the exact opposite has taken affect. My lack of practice has caused me to suck.

What makes the Beatles so appealing to me?  It might be that they are the only band that I could listen to for hours on end and not find a song that sucked.  They have countless songs that I find very good.  From the simple tune of "Yesterday" to the transitions upon transitions of "Day in a Life", they are great.  The Beatles have tons of variety in their music.  The great variety is a product of the eccentric John Lennon and the knighted Sir Paul McCartney.  The talent between those two is unmatched by any other musical group.  Paul can sing the purest melody and then yell and scream so loud it makes you cringe.  John has a unique voice and sings brilliantly strange lyrics.

I never realized how physically taxing a 5 hour drive in rain is.  But, driving home from Fayettevill, Arkansas today had pouring rain every minute of the ride.  As of now my eyes hurt and I'm beyond tired.  The trip there also was in the rain.  However, I got there at 2:30 and not 9:30 which was much advantageous to having any amount of energy when arriving at my destination, but even so I went to bed a 10 pm that night.  Which by my account is a little early.

Start of the NFL season brings a heightened level of T.V. watching to my bedroom, so to speak.  I don't watch a wide variety of shows or television.  Mostly I stick to ESPN or the few shows that I actually enjoy.  But, football season is a time when I love to kick back and watch the tube.  It doesn't particularly even matter which team is playing.  I can usually find a player I like, and I can watch them.  Living in the metroplex my whole life has made me a big Cowboys fan.  I always got to stop whatever it is I might be doing and turn on the game.  Hopefully this year they can end the horrid streak of about 15 seasons without a playoff win.

The NFL season starts today.  The Pittsburgh Stealers battle it out against the Tennessee Titans.  The Stealers are the defending league champs, and the Titans went 13-3 last year.  Both teams are expected to do very good again this year.  Last year when the Stealers won the Super Bowl they took sole ownership as the team in the NFL with the most Super Bowl Titles.  Previous to them wining the Cowboys were tied with the Stealers with 5 Championships a piece.  Even though I am by no shape or form a Cardinals fan, I was definitely pulling for them last year because of that.

The U.S. Open is going on right now.  It looks to be a certain final match between Roger Federer the best tennis player of all time, and Rafael Nadal the best clay court player of all time.  However, I do not wish to really talk about the actual tennis.  In a Seinfeld episode Kramer tries to be a ball boy or man.  He has some wild adventures, and because it's Kramer things go a little array.  During this years Open a ball boy took a nasty spill.  The hilarity of that guys misfortune reminded me Kramer from that episode.

For some reason pitchers seem to hit me more than other players.  I don't crowd the plate and initiate anything that would encourage them to hit me.  I just seem to one of those players that has the unlucky habit of being at bat when a pitcher decides to loose control.  Last baseball season I got the rare chance to have back to back pitches, not just at bats, to where I got drilled right in the head.   Maybe I don't get out of the way in time.  But, that can't be the real reason because no one else is even thrown at as much as I am.  Getting hit twice in our fall game today sparked to write this blog.  Starting to think maybe I got some sort of curse.

An intriguing aspect of Seinfeld is Jerry's unique style of comedy.  A lot of the jokes are just common observations turned in to a clever or witty comment.  The show pokes fun at the obvious.  It uses retinue and every day stuff.  An example of this is Jerry's idea on same side couples at restaurants.  In a episode he remarks to call couples like that disgusting and just asking for attention.  An account that one might see at dinner and Jerry pokes fun at it, and turns it into witty humor.

For labor day weekend I decided to go home.  I took a long 30 mile trek back home to my dad's house.  My twin brother who goes to another school also came home for the long weekend.  I have a buddy that plays football for Trinity University.  His school was playing McMurrey University in Abilene.  We drove there and watched the game.

George continued...
George has many insecurities.  He is obsessed with trying to make people see him for more than he really is.  In countless episodes he is trying to make his appearance more enticing for the opposite.  But George's insecurities usually seem to get the best of him as for he as a cynical outlook on things.  He kind of lives through Jerry and his success with women.  In one episode George exclaims that "he can't possibly see any situation where he could ever have sex again".

Friday, September 4, 2009

Without contest George is the most deceptive and secretive character of Seinfeld.  His secretive behavior is at large because of his frugal and miserly personality.  George is promoted as cheap by the rest of the characters.  In one episode George asks " to know the truth". Elaine tells him he is cheap.  George is hurt by this  accusation by such a close friend.  However, the comment is precisely correct, George is extremely cheap and expresses this quality countless times in the episodes.

Seinfeld

In a hilarious moment in Seinfeld, the erratic  Kramer hops onto a fire truck and drives from the rear.  A moment that displays Kramer's child ambitions of driving a fire truck.  The episode captures the common childhood desire to cruise the streets in a big fire truck.  The episode displays this desire in a comical and amusing way.  Kramer's antics are extremely over the top as he waves from the back of the truck to friends while flying in his seat out of control.  The scene is one of the best scenes in a fantastic show.

Topic: Seinfeld

I am a habitual Seinfeld watcher.  The show, in my opinion, is beyond brilliant.  It captures lots of everyday occurrences and puts a humorous spin on it.  Since our daily blog is for the most part free writing.  I am going to on the days that something is not assigned write a blog that regards an experience of my day that reminds me of a Seinfeld moment.  Starting next blog.

Pg. 49, Question 3

King refers to his learning of words in a unique manner.  He says that at six your "Bingo balls" are still not all found.  He uses Bingo balls to symbolize how he hadn't quite figured out his diction yet.  Early in the reading he uses exaggeration to include how many comics he read while he was sick in bed.  At the end of the reading there are certain words that are italicized to show a specific meaning.  The italicized words make point of his fathers absence.  King uses literary techniques in the writing to show his own special voice and style of writing.
